SAP Calculations

Need a SAP Calculation? We can help. For a competitive quote, call us now on 07963 936 735 or email us at contact@triskele-energy.co.uk

What is a SAP?

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) Calculation is the method used to demonstrate that a new-build, residential property complies with building regulations in the UK. At Triskele we are fully qualified to provide compliance calculations for the regulations of all four nations: Part L1A (England & Wales); Section 6 (Scotland); and Part F (Northern Ireland).

Our assessors use approved SAP modelling software to compare the performance of a proposed dwelling design against a series of targets that are based on the building regulations in force at the time. Such targets include the Fabric Energy Efficiency Standard, maximum permitted U-values and summer overheating requirements, but the best known is the carbon emissions target whereby the DER (Dwelling CO2 Emission Rate) is compared with the TER (Target CO2 Emission Rate) – DER must be less than TER for compliance.

SAP calculations – done fast with detailed compliance advice from highly experienced assessors. All for a very competitive price.

How can Triskele help me?

We will use your drawings and specifications to model the proposed dwellings and offer detailed advice on cost effective measures to improve performance if any aspect of the design does not meet the required standard. Once a compliant specification has been agreed we will issue the appropriate reports so that building control conditions can be cleared. We will also be on hand to advise if subsequent changes to the design are needed.

What else should I know about SAP Calculations?

Most Building Control bodies require SAP calculations during the design phase of a building project and it is strongly recommended that these are completed before construction work begins on site. This will help to avoid costly changes to the construction specification at a later stage.

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for new-build dwellings are generated from the SAP data once construction is complete.
